Units 1&2: Task 1 – Roles and Responsibility in a Performance

 Make-up artist 

Makeup artists job in a studio, theater or film set focus on enhancing the facial aesthetics for whatever play, film or show the producer needs, in the salon the makeup artist needs to do is contra-action or indication like consult if they client has any allergies or sensitive skin, that applies to all make-up, hair, director or stage manager if any concerns about the face are made aware they can suggest a dermatologist and reschedule.  

Hair stylist  

A hair stylist in any setting (like a salon, studio, and film) needs to make sure that the person is comfortable with the cut and tell them thought it and talk about what treatments can be done if the stylist has any concerns about the hair health or scalp health. 

on set the hair stylist is there to touch up your hair look or even fix it if its uncomfortable for the cast, they are there to remove it and make sure that your hair and scalp will be clean and not infected

Director of performance 

Now the director is someone who assembles and oversees the production team, casts best artists and actors for the said play, provides directions for designs to the artists, lead rehearsals and manages that the stage and casts are ready for the desired schedule of the project also ensures all parts of the play connect  

In short, the director is in charge in the performing arts plays, makes sure everything is safe and everything is met for the deadlines  

Stage manager 

A stage manager is not only there to communicate across all creative and tech departments but are also the director’s right hand, they make sure all sets, props, lighting, and sound are in check but also call all tech cues during performance

the stage manager makes sure all activity onstage and backstage during the performances to make sure that the show goes well with out and errors or mistakes

Stage manager supports everyone on the set like the director, performances, technical team and designers

  

Comparisons 

Hair and make-up stylist 

The hair stylist is similar to makeup artist like having a crucial role in the performance cause not only is that makeup supposed to be darker so people in the far back and the hair must stay in place for a long time so that the heat and movement don’t mess the makeup or hair. 

Director and stage manager  

The director and stage manager are similar in a sense that both direct what happens on stage, talk about deadlines and make sure all the designs are accurate to the play.
