Unit 8: Evaluation

For my look I recreated in my own style a fungal infection in a fantasy setting, inspired on the show last of us .

For the makeup i made a pale base with purpleish eye bags to give a look of not sleeping and sickness by making the eyes look hollow, i made the mushroom look like mushrooms on a tree bark but bright pink, purple and gold colours, i made a few fake pimples that represent where the mushrooms will grow out of, a hole where a mushroom was ripped out near the lips and blood where the mushrooms have grown out of and scratches from branches hitting them

For the hair i did a low and loose ponytail that then i back combed to make a messy and untidy look as if they had been distressed and ran away, i placed a few small dry twigs and some fresh leafs and branches in the hair to help it look as if they ran away

Overall i had to over come one mushroom near the lips falling off so i switched it to being ripped out and the change of going from a female to a male model and quick thinking but it was a good experience of what i had to do and think of differently

Unit 8: Practical Assessment

I did a mushroom infection on a male model instead of a female model as the female was sick, but the makeup turned out better then i thought

For the makeup base i used the foundation pots for the base in a light shade, purpleish eyeshadow around the eyes for a eye bags look as if they have not slept, made the mushrooms with scar wax and spirit gum to stick them on and using grease paint to colour them in bright colours

I used dried and fresh twigs, leafs and a stick to give it an illusion that he has been running away in the woods to hide the infection taking over

I liked how the mushrooms look not so common colours you see, darkening of the lips and eyes to make more of a dead or decaying look

Unit 8: Character Breakdown

C = Character

The year is 2035

10 years after the initial announcement about the virus and multiple vaccines and supposed cures all that was left just a few thousand people left, mainly away from the big cities where most of the virus was spread and is still dormant to this day.

Only i and a few others in the camp are immune to it or at least I thought.

One morning C woke up with small bumps on their skin, maybe just some zits nothing bad although throughout the day all that can be felt is pain and the swelling didn’t go down after multiple creams and pills nothing was effective.

C started to panic one morning with a small mushroom growing…

Cc is a 6’0 woman, arms and legs have small to medium tattoos of many of her interests and a tiger tattoo going down her left arm, cybernetic wings tattoo that she got for her 18 birthday in the year 2024

Her hair after having to cut it due to it being in the way while fighting and working around the camp, making it about to her shoulders and a milk chocolate brown colour

Her personality before the breakout was outgoing, bubbly and besides her social anxiety she had a small group of friends from her school.

However after the breakout her personality turned, she became paranoid and untrusting of everyone in her camp even the security, her anxiety worsened and sometimes she can stay in her tent for days without sleep or food just on watch for any infected or spoors, she turned cold after her best friend died in her arms and the rest of her group turned to other camps far away

Dialogue between a security guard and Cc

SG- security guard

SG-“Cc thank goodness you are out- what.. your face..”

Cc-“hey who allowed you to come here!.. its just a pimple. Im fine.”

SG- “you should get it checked you are the best here and we can’t loose you.. the camp cares for you Cc”

Cc- “does it look like i need sympathy! No now leave.”

Unit 8: Health & Safety

1- ill let my model sit down and place the headband and gown on to do the client consultation

2- after that ill do the the three step cleanse, tone, moisturiser to prep the skin for the makeup to go on

3- ill put on primer to archive a smooth base for the foundation to sit well, I didn’t use powder to give it a sweaty look

4- ill use eye shadow to create eye bags and hollow eyes as if they were sick for a while, ill use the spirit gum to mark out where the mushrooms go

5- I’ll sculpt the mushrooms from the wax and stick them on before painting and putting blood on

6- ill add pimples and residue coming out the already grown mushrooms same with blood

7- ill put the hair up in a ponytail and add sticks and leafs for a look of distress and as if they had just ran away

My health and safety is patch testing and properly protecting my client from the hair spray as to hold his hair down

Unit 8: Personal Skills Progress

Clothes- fantasy fashion to me is and nature looking dresses or tattered and ragged looking outfits showing a apocalypse

Science- many small experiments like the colour changing liquid or elephant’s toothpaste

Nature- the way forests just adapt to the surroundings like the bending trees in Montana

Anime- for me it was attack on titan with the giants that look like deformed humans, and the art that people make of what they might look like in real life

Phobias- to me i have a phobia of the deep water and the unknown cause you dont know what creepy creatures could be lurking

Creatures- dragons, massive lizards that breath fire and fly, my favourite characteristic in a lizard

Animals- snow leopards are just big soft and silly animals that use their tails as plushies and we know little about them

Paranormal- knowing that some can live in a realm between here and the after life and what story is inspires me to find out about it

Unit 8: Timeline of Fantasy from 2007-2024

2007- the water horse (112 mins)

A lonely boy discovers a mysterious egg that hatches a sea creature of Scottish legend. I remember watching the movie when i was little once but that film made me interested in the lochness monster.

2008- narnia (150 mins)

The Pevensie siblings return to Narnia, where they are enlisted to once again help ward off an evil king and restore the rightful heir to the land’s throne, Prince Caspian. I loved narnia as its a world full of creatures and animals that talk and it all seems like different fairytales into one.

2010- Alice in wonderland (108 mins)

Nineteen-year-old Alice returns to the magical world from her childhood adventure, where she reunites with her old friends and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. I could watch that movie over and over as its just odd and full of different characters that can be turned to makeup looks.

2014- Maleficent (97 mins)

A vengeful fairy is driven to curse an infant princess, only to discover that the child could be the one person who can restore peace to their troubled land. I remember as a child i wanted maleficent as a parent cause i loved the world she was in and her in general

2016- The BFG (117 mins)

An orphan little girl befriends a benevolent giant who takes her to Giant Country, where they attempt to stop the man-eating giants that are invading the human world. I remember only watching it in lesson but it was a fun and weird movie.
